The life of Jesus · Mark 10
Blind Bartimaeus
Jesus leaves Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd. Sitting by the roadside is Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar. He hears that it is Jesus of Nazareth passing by and begins to cry out: “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many tell him to be quiet, but he cries out all the more: “Thou Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stops: “Call him.” So they say to the blind man, “Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.” Bartimaeus throws off his cloak, jumps to his feet, and comes to Jesus. “What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?” “Rabboni, that I might receive my sight.” Jesus says to him: “Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.” Immediately he sees, and he follows Jesus on the road that leads up to Jerusalem.
