The end times · Revelation 19–20

The White Rider and the Last Judgment

Heaven opens, and a white horse appears. The one who rides it is called Faithful and True; in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, he is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. On his robe is written: “King of kings, and Lord of lords.” The beast and the false prophet are thrown alive into the lake of fire. An angel then binds the dragon, that old serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, for a thousand years. When they are over, Satan goes out to deceive the nations, but fire comes down from heaven and devours them; the devil is cast into the lake of fire. Before a great white throne, the dead are judged according to their works. Anyone not found written in the book of life is cast into the lake of fire: this is the second death.

The lesson

Evil and death do not have the last word: Christ, Faithful and True, will conquer them. On the day of judgment, what matters is to be found written in the book of life, and that is a reason to stand firm starting today.

And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Revelation 19:16
